WHY EVERY WOMAN SHOULD READ RUPI KAUR'S milk and honey

milk and honey is a beautiful work of art by Rupi Kaur. I'm just going to say it easily (and hope there's no fuss), but I'm a feminist, and this is a bomb feminist read. This is a collection of prose and poetry about survival. Kaur's words take you through the experience of violence, abuse, love, loss, and femininity. Most importantly of all, her words take you through the process of healing. This book is split into four chapters, and each chapter serves a different purpose. Some pages deal with a different pain, while others heal a different heartache. 

This is the perfect book to read over a glass of wine, when you're feeling sad, happy, melancholy, etc. I loved reading this book, and I have so many pages marked with the poems that resonated the most with me. After reading milk and honey, I did a little bit of research and found that Kaur began posting her poetry on online platforms such as tumblr and Instagram.  While she is an artist, writer, and performer, at the root of it all, her passion is expression. I highly recommend picking up a copy and giving it a read - you don't be disappointed!
