ONE OF A KIND SHOW & SALE 2016 | #OOAKX16
The One of a Kind Show & Sale is Canada's largest shopping event showcasing local artisans and their creations. Since 1975, One of a Kind has been cultivating creativity, craftsmanship and connection in order to deliver an inspired shopping experience. The One of a Kind Show & Sale is a bi-annual shopping event that features a curated and juried marketplace to bring together makers and buyers who share a commitment and appreciation to handmade excellence. This year, I attended the Christmas edition of One of a Kind, running from November 24th to December 4th.
I had so much fun attending the Show and found the whole experience to be extremely rewarding. I was able to walk around the massive venue (trust me when I say massive), meet the artists and makers, and also talk to them about their products and understand how they were made and where they originated from. I try to shop local when I can, so by offering a platform for artisans and designers to share their work with consumers, the Show reinforces and encourages the growing desire to buy and support local.

The One of a Kind Show has everything. Literally EVERYTHING. It's the perfect opportunity to do all of your holiday shopping in one place and give meaningful and personalized gifts to everyone on your list. The Show features artisans from coast-to-coast displaying home decor, fashion, jewellery, visual art, children's clothing and toys, and artisanal food items. There are over 800 Canadian artisans, and the venue is set up with five key shopping districts: Flavours, Fashion, Green, Rising Stars, and the Visual Art Gallery.
You can pretty much say I've been at the show almost every single day, walking around each aisle and really taking my time to chat with the vendors, sample their products, and as you can see, I also walked away with a few purchases!

I spent a majority of my time in the Flavours aisle, and sampled so many foods (everything was delicious by the way) from coast-to-coast. This is a round up of some of my purchases:
Charcuterie pack from Les Cochons Tout Ronds: This booth is from Montreal and was selling a selection of their cured meats and sausages. I was able to sample their whole selection, and decided to purchase a sampler pack for my holiday hosting!
Dip Mix from Wicked Gourmet: Another food-related booth from Oakville that sold various types of dip mixes. I sampled a few mixes but was drawn to the Cheddar and Jalapeno dip mix. What I loved about these is that you actually mix about two tablespoons of the flavouring into sour cream or Greek yogurt and voila! You have yourself a dip!
Macarons from AG Macarons: Based in Toronto, this booth was selling their delicious macarons in singles, half a dozen, and a dozen packages.
Charcoal Face Soap and Hair Shampoo from Lavami: Lavami was one of the vendors I was most looking forward to see. A Calgary-based company, they showed in the 6 day selection, meaning they are still at OOAK until the end of the show! I picked up a face soap and hair shampoo bar from them, and had a nice little chat about my hometown with one of the employees at the booth.

If you're on the hunt for some holiday gifts, I would highly recommend stopping over to the One of a Kind Show first, because you never know what you may find. Not only will you find gifts for those on your list, you will also be supporting local artists and vendors, purchasing items that are truly unique and dare I say it, one of a kind! Tickets to the show are $13.00 online or $15.00 at the door however, you are able to receive free re-admission every time you go, because trust me, you will not be able to do the whole show in one day.

The One of Kind Show is still on until December 4th, so I would take advantage of the weekend to attend the last few days of the show and do some of your holiday shopping! Did anyone else attend the show? Let me know in the comments what booths caught your eye and what you purchased!
xoxo,
Nancy
