GENERATION BEAUTY TORONTO CREATOR SWAG BAG |
As anticipated, here is my recap of Generation Beauty Toronto 2017! You may remember that last year I attended as a regular attendee, and even though I had such a fun time last year, this year my goal was to attend as an IpsyOS Creator... and it happened!
For those who are unfamiliar with Generation Beauty Toronto, it is a two-day convention for beauty lovers to come visit brand booths, test out new and popular products, and receive all the swag. This year, it was held at the Metro Convention Centre on Saturday, June 24th and Sunday, June 25th. The Saturday hours were 11AM to 5PM and the Sunday hours were 11AM to 3PM. For those who purchased an early access pass, you were able to enter the event space an hour earlier on both days.
This year, there were 28 brands (a big step up from last year's 17), and the overall experience was similar to last year's Generation Beauty. Attendees and Creators were given a little sheet this year for brands to cross off once you have reached their booth. Activitives consisted of mostly waiting in line for product, although some also had customization activities which was much more engaging and fun. Some brands also sold product at their booths, all for a discounted price.
GENERATION BEAUTY TORONTO BRAND BOOTH GIVEAWAYS/FREE PRODUCTS |
Generation Beauty is KNOWN for their swag bags, be it for the Creators or the regular attendees. As an IpsyOS Creator, I was invited to the cocktail party; the official kick-off party for Gen Beauty TO. It was hosted at the Thompson Hotel rooftop lounge, with free drinks and food for all guests.
I had the pleasure of spending the evening with Neha (@nehalobana), and Nami (@namiicho). Both incredibly sweet girls, and so welcoming and fun to talk to! This year, Michelle Phan made an appearance at Generation Beauty, and I literally got to meet her, chat with her, and take a picture with her which unfortunately looks awful (me, obvs not Michelle haha)! At the end of the cocktail party, every guest was given their swag bag, filled with mostly full-sized products from all of the brand booths this year.
It was a pretty surreal night and I gushed about it all the way home to my friends on the phone. I will say though, it seems as though this year, IpsyOS directed most of their Creator invites to Youtubers and Instagrammers. Most of the people I spoke to at the party were not beauty bloggers, or even lifestyle content creators on Instagram.
Neha, Nami, and Nancy (the three Ns), and Michelle Phan |
- MAC | Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour (Cafe Au Chic), Pro Longwear Lip Pencil (Nice N' Spicy), Prep + Prime Lip
- Marc Anthony | Strengthening Grow Long Shampoo, Conditioner, & Leave-In Treatment
- Purlisse | Blue Lotus + Seaweed Treatment Sheet Mask
- Glamglow | Supermud Clearing Treatment
- Luxie | Mini Detail Rose Gold Collection Brush Set
- Smashbox | Casey Holmes Spotlight Palette
- Benefit | Watt's Up Highlighter
- Dr. Belmeur | ATO Salt Cream
- Nudestix | #Babebox Fav Box
As I did not receive the regular attendee swag bag, these are the products I am most excited about from walking around the convention over the two days:
- Dr. Belmeur | Sheet Mask
- SOO AE | Sheet masks (Creators received more sheet masks)
- Brigeo | Don't Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask (this was customizable)
- Purlisse | Blue Lotus Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Moisturizer
- MAC | Retro matte Liquid Lipcolour (High Drama), Lip Pencil (Vino)
- Ciate | Fierce Flicks eyeliner
Of course, this is only a snippet of what I picked up over the past two days. Overall, the brands that I found to be the most fun were the ones that took the time to talk to me, had a fun activity, or had enough space for me to test out their products.
Lastly, I attended Generation Beauty this year with these lovely ladies. From left to right, Zaibii (@thechicexchange), Maria (@pnkpetals), Stephanie (@stephh_lau), and Melanie (@imnotabeautyg). I had so much fun with these ladies, from standing in line together chatting, to grabbing lunch and being total #basic, I would say they made the whole experience at Generation Beauty this year 10x better.
Of course, be on the lookout for a Generation Beauty Toronto giveaway from me very soon!
Did you attend Generation Beauty this year in Toronto? What were your thoughts?
xoxo,
Nancy
