Hi lovelies! Today I'm revisiting my roots and sharing some love to a local Canadian beauty company. If you've been following this blog for a while, you'll know that I began blogging primarily local and/or Canadian-made products and companies. I love supporting local businesses (I work for one full-time after all!), but truthfully, it's been a while since I've tested out local products.
Working for and around local businesses in Toronto has it perks, and we were gifted a few deodorant samples from LOVEFRESH to try. These deodorants are 100% natural, which is important as I've recently learned that most anti-antiperspirant deodorants contain aluminium, which is the active ingredient that prevents you from sweating. However, it has also been linked to some health problems, although I can't say that they have been 100% proven. The main difference between an antiperspirant and a deodorant is that one prevents sweat while deodorants do not, but they both prevent odour.
I picked out the Eucalyptus Spearmint and Lavender Tea Tree scents. In terms of smell, these both smell sooooo nice. I was also able to smell all of the other available scents, and there is pretty much something for everyone, ranging from more minty and fresh scents, to more fruity and sweet scents.
I like the cream texture of these deodorants, and they apply pretty smoothly. They do apply a little bit white, but after a couple of minutes, the natural butters dissolve and the deodorant appears clear. In terms of lasting power, I wouldn't say that the deodorant lasts "all day long", because I found myself needing to reapply after about five hours.
I think it's important to be more conscious of what you are putting in and on your body, but I still think I prefer an antiperspirant over a regular deodorant. I like not having to worry about reapplying to smell fresh, and since I do tend to sweat more, deodorants don't really help me with preventing that. However, what I have been doing lately is carrying this deodorant around with me in my bag, and it's great for when I want to freshen up a little bit, or to apply at the end of the day at work if I have an event later on in the night.
Overall, I like these LOVEFRESH deodorants. As a deodorant, they do their job, they're all natural, and they smell amazing. I think because I have been using anti-perspirants for over ten years, it's difficult to make the switch over to something different but I'm sure with time, I could get used to an all-natural alternative.
